Connecting to the visitor

The topmost concern for every webmaster is how to get the visitors of their websites keep returning. This is infact vey significant because, it is such traffic, that of loyal visitors, which actually counts in your Return on Investment. Though search engine traffic is very significant, it is upto the webmaster's task to make the ultimate use of it. It is a well researched fact that traffic from search engines do not dig too deep into the website and return once their mission is accomplished. But however, depending on your ability to make an impact on the visitor, he might let you know his personal information or not.

Once you are able to get hold of his personal information, primarily email, you can use it to keep him updated on what is going on in your site, let him know about products you sell etc, which now helps you get a fairly regular repeat visit. This is one of the most easiest ways to get repeat traffic.

But however, this method cannot be implemented or not enough in certain kinds of websites. This is particularly true in cases where you sell products on your website. In such websites, the visitor or rather the customer will always have apprehensions and doubts. If you want to be successful and get your product sold over to the customer, it becomes extremely important that you reveal to your customer about the existence of a human on the other side of the sales desk as well.

It is this concept that is now catching attention among small and big webmasters alike. Online buyers are so used to phishing and other fraudster tricks that it has become a nightmare to shop online. But when the sale is explicitly given a human touch, the sale of the product as well as the customer confidence rises. The bottom line is that your sales increase.

Now, there are quite a few ways of achieving this. The first thing is to provide a physical contact address. This is for the customer to understand that it is not a phantom running the website. You need not necessarily be a corporate to provide your contact address. No visitor would actually come in to check if you exist. It is primarily a confidence builder. The second important thing is assuring post sale support. This need not be a product replacement or providing technical information. Most often you will not even be in a position to do this as you shall only be selling products as an affiliate. But you could always get to them on phone to explain who the manufacturer (with whom you are affiliated to) is. This will help your visitor in understanding what and where to go in case of a product failure. Most product sellers do have their own customer support, so that diverting queries to them, will not only help your customer, but also dramatically increase the word-of-mouth publicity that your own website will get. This is a very much acknowledged fact, as for the visitor, you still seem to be the person who helped solve the issue.

Now, look around the web for successful websites. You will definitely find only the websites with a human touch that has been surviving.
