Freelancing for a living

How do you generate content for your website. Anyway, there are only three ways. One, write and kep writing your own content. Two, extract it from other websites with a link to them or get it permitted from them, and three, blatantly copying from another site without a speck of care for copyrights.

If you are of the first kind, you should definitely know the pains of sitting down to write down every page of yours. It definitely hurts if you do not manage the kind of traffic that you would like to have. However, that is the way Internet is. But you can leverage your ability to write and work the hard way, thanks to the fact that not everybody likes or knows to write about what he or she likes to have their website talk about.

This has given rise to the large number of freelance projects that are now available online. As a freelancer, you can enrol yourself in a website and offer services to those who require it, and getting paid for what you do. Choose any part of the website building that you are proficient in and pool in your talent to get the deal and hence the money for the same.

Now, what is beautiful in such a project is that, you not only get instantly rewarded for doing what you have been all along doing, but also learn a lot that you can implement in your very own website. For example, one reason you would not have been successful at your very own website is because you did not know how Search Engines pick up webpages for ranking. And while you talk about widgets in your webpage as well as in the freelance project, you might be asked to write the article in such a way that 'Green widgets' appear atleast twice every paragraph. Now, what it helps you know is how the wording of your pages helps you get the traffic.

The above example was of course very elementary and would be known to most webmasters. But still, a lot of such things would be learnt when you write for others and measure the success of that webpage compared to yours. There is however one flipside. You might be asked to copyright what you just wrote in the owner's name so that what you wrote just now is no longer yours. But then, that is the way copyrights the world over function, and being the writer yourself, you can build upon what you wrote with extra information on your website to profit from your website as well.
