Choosing an affiliate network

Getting banned from Adsense can be a boon in disguise. This is because Adsense publishers often get too much into the intricacies of getting a click that they forget to try other higher paying options. The adsense ads are shown at the more easily seen space on the page and other forms of revenue are given the go-by.

This is your chance to try and learn the basics of selling on the web. Not necessarily your products, but for others and in turn getting a commission for not simply the sale, but for a lead to their website or sometimes just a click. Signing up to affiliate websites and selling products that you know a little about, not only helps you to develop content, but also, trigger the visitor's minds into trying the product, and thus generating a sale. This is a all-win idea. You get a commission for referring a customer, the product makers get a customer and the customer has just found the right product.

Search for Affiliate Network on the internet and you are likely to find hundreds of them. Not everything is as high paying as the other. This is because, some are merely selfish programs to lure you into their network to make some money for them, and ditching you. The idea of most of them is very simple. Pay you XYZ dollars for a lead, set a high acheiving payment trigger, and while you keep trying and trying to reach that mark, which is too high for most to reach, stop the program and start a new one with a different name.

While this is the case with many of the networks, there are some like Commission Junction, Clickbank and ShareASale which are quite popular among the webmasters. This is because, most of the exisiting webmasters use either of these to generate income from their own websites. These are not the only ones, but how do you find out which one is genuine.

Firstly, look for those that have been around for atleast a year or so. Secondly, they should provide a platform where the affiliates can talk among themselves. Thirdly, the payment trigger should be relevant with the average commission levels that are set.

If the program has been around for sometime, it means that they have been doing quite well, which means that the merchants who advertise through their websites are in turn genuine and paying. This is the basic confidence booster that tells you that this website can be banked upon. Now, a website that provides a platform for the affiliates to discuss is one that is playing a fair game by allowing the affiliates to check for themselves if they are happy are not. If the program is a farce, you can find out from those who have made more money than you. And yes, remember to check if there are quite a bunch of them in the messageboards.Otherwise it could be the webmasters themselves coming out in fake profiles. Thirdly, if the commissions are such that you can actually collect your check after selling around 5 to 6 products, then it is very well within a reach and it is now up to your hardwork for making the pay.

Finally, as you make the signup, do make sure that there are quite a good number of products in your interest area so that you can actually sell products and make some money.
