Is niche website research worth it?

This is yet one myth that the 'experts' in the website making field have been duping the new webmasters on. That is researching on the perfect niche on which to build your website. This is because you cannot go too deep in researching the proper niche for your website where you would not have competition simply because you will not be able to.

Let me explain why. If you want a regular inflow of traffic to your website, it is through search engines. These search engines provide the ranking of the website based on how popular your website. This depends on how many links pint to your website, which is one of the significant pointers for your website. And one way to build links to your website apart from buying them from other website is building them from within. And that is by building more and more content.

When you write more and more content, you have thousands and thousands of pages. And now, for any given search on the Search engines, there is more probability that a related topic is discussed on your website than at a time when you only had a couple of hundreds of pages. So, that means your websites gets a listing many more times with much more content.

Now, why I am telling you all this is because, if you want to build such a huge site, it cannot be done talking on a niche topic alone. At some point or the other, you shall be forced to broaden your website theme to get more general.

This is the reason, I advise you not spend too much time in researching a niche theme for your website. Rather think about the various categories that you can make from a broad topic which you are passionate to write about.
