Orkut - Google's networking tool

You must have heard of Orkut, it is Google's networking tool that allows you to make contacts with people across the world.

I recently have observed a few webmaster profiles on Orkut, who are making a great use of this tool.

The first step is to create a community for your niche topic. Suppose your website talks of Jewellery. Create a community for Jewellery lovers. Never be explicit in advertising your website or your product. Simply create a community for your niche topic. Start a few discussions and increase your community base by advertising in other communities.

Now, the only thing you need to do is make a mention of your website in the 'about the community' posting. Though initially it starts out as a curiosity visit, it starts reaping profit in quite some time.

The only drawback with Orkut is that the members are predominantly the youngsters from South Asia and Brazil. So you might capitalize if your website caters to their needs.
